If someone would have shown me the elevation to my house before I had dug into research and inspiration photos about mid century modern home design, I would have told them that it was the ugliest thing I'd ever seen. Well maybe not the ugliest (because there are some truly hideous homes out there), but the below elevation would absolutely not have been something I was excited about.
I mean...it looks flat. Boring. I love simple and clean rooflines, but this takes it to a whole new …

Living Room Progress + Dreaming
Well hey there strangers! Sorry about all the blogging I have not been doing lately, this summer hit me harder than I was expecting. Adam worked a ton of extra hours and the four boys were all-consuming, so I decided to put blogging aside and enjoy my kids until summer was over. The older two are back in school now (kinder and 2nd) and here I am! Having just a two-year-old and nearly one year old at home during the day is like a freaking vacation...they're so quiet. I love my older boys to …

Plans for the Master Bedroom
In the last house I never finished our master bedroom, the entire time we lived there it was an unfinished catch-all for everything in the house that didn't have a place. We basically slept in a storage unit. Adam and I would crawl into bed night after a long day, and instead of feeling relaxed we would just look around and think “Ugh...there is so much stuff we didn't get done today” (even if we had each rocked the socks off our to-do list).
I know I'm not alone in this. I know the master …

The Boy’s Room – Then, Now, and Future Plans
So today let’s talk about the boy's room.
The room is 12 x 15 and will be shared by my older two boys. If you regularly read the blog than you’ve seen pictures of it while under construction...but here they are again (mostly to remind me that we’ve already come a long way and aren't just beginning...because it’s true, but I forget).
We have been in the new house for a little over a month now, and here is what the boy's room looks like today.
It’s nothing …

Designing a Kitchen
Alright, it’s time to start talking about the kitchen in the new house. We’re moving in just over a month, (because we sold our old house! In a day! More on that later) and in order to move in we need a functioning kitchen. As a reminder, here is what the kitchen looks like in the blueprints....
Actually, here is the complete floorplan so you can see how the kitchen relates to the rest of the house.
As you can see, it is really really open. Which means not only does the …

The Fireplace Conundrum
I feel like this is something a lot of people struggle with...if you have a fireplace, where do you put the TV? The same wall? A different wall? If they are on different walls, which way do you point your furniture? The TV is the obvious answer, but no one wants to turn their back on the fireplace either. Our current house doesn't have a fireplace so been a non-issue until now, and fortunately the decision was easy when it came to the new house, simply because there is only one wall in the …

Exterior Inspiration Pictures
Hey everyone, hope y'all had a great Fourth! So today I'm sharing some of the pictures Adam and I used as inspiration while designing our new home.
But first, a public service announcement...
If you're using pinterst to design a new home or remodel an old one, STOP IT. Pinterest has its place of course, but is Houzz is so much better. I will sing Houzz praises till I'm blue in the face, it's that amazing. Just like on pinterst you can search through what seems to be unlimited photos and …

My Plans for The Boys Room
One of my "loose goals" for this year is to give my boys room a complete makeover. I worked on it a little when I was pregnant with Levi, but I just did a few things (book slings and nursery chair) and now I want to completely overhaul it. A few days ago I took y'all window shopping with me to Kirklands and today I'm doing the second part of that series, the room reveal.
Except that this is in no way a room reveal. Sorry Kirklands, don't be mad. There is just no way this was going to be a room …
