Alright, time for the final part of the 2017 house tour! I’ve already posted about the exterior, and the main living areas, so keep reading to see the bedrooms, bathrooms and the loft.
Let’s start with the loft...
There it is, truth...I bet you weren’t expecting to see a giant mess right off the bat were you?
The loft is the only thing upstairs (besides the attic) and it serves as the kids playroom. It’s perfect, because every single toy the kids own is up there and I can’t see any …

Grout mistakes and installed bathroom tile
*Thank you to Floor & Decor for sponsoring this post.
Last month I shared with y’all the process of picking tile for our kids bathroom, and I’m happy to say that it's all installed, and we are that much closer to having a livable house! As a reminder, here is the tile we picked - a brushed marble tile for the floor, a tumbled marble subway tile for the shower walls, and a linear blue glass for the backside of the niches (all from Floor & Decor).
Originally Adam and I had planned …

Boys Bathroom Tile
*Thank you to Floor & Decor for sponsoring this post.
Alright, so it’s time to start diving into all the finish selections for the inside of the house. Up until now we have concentrated on exterior stuff, but the exterior is almost finished and so is the builder... which means that Adam and I have a whoooole lot of work to do in a relatively short amount of time. (We’re only having the builder build the “shell” of the home and are doing most the interior work ourselves). We have a lot to …

Prepping to Sell – Bathroom Updates
Originally Adam and I had planned not to sell this house until after we move into the new one. Our current house is paid off, and we figured that one of the advantages of not having to carry two mortgages is that we can move at our leisure. We were planning to finish the new house as much as possible, move our stuff over (slowly, because I’m going to purge the crud out of it as we go), fix up all the lingering details on this house, then sell it while it’s nice, empty, and clean. Because really, …

Master Bathroom Reveal
A few weeks ago I was working on my linen closet makeover and taking pictures of the finished product. I was perched on the vanity counter, pressed up again the mirror, when I looked around and realized that I had never posted a reveal of my master bathroom remodel. You know, the one Adam and I started in 2013 and haven't worked on in over a year? Obviously you remember it perfectly.
I never posted the reveal because there is still things I want to do to it, so I've never had that awesome …

Linen Closet Organization (and the end of my pink walls!)
I've done a lot of painting during the seven years we've lived in this house. A lot. Most rooms have been painted three or more times... Adam jokes that there are so many layers of paint on the walls that I've actually decreased the square footage of our home. There is one spot that has yet to be caressed by a paintbrush though, the single stronghold that reminds me daily of the time we bought a house that looked like the inside of a stomach.
The master bathroom closet.
That's the …

My Painted Shower – One Year Later
Last October I did something crazy....I painted my shower. The post I wrote about the process has become one of my most popular, probably because (much like my paper bag flooring) it's just an unusual concept. Anyway, since it's been over a year I figured its high time for an update. After all, whats the point of posting crazy tutorials if I'm not going to let you know if they are a total waste of time or not?

I have good news...it wasn't a total …

$5 Built-In Magazine Rack
I have another bathroom "mini project" for you today, this on is easy, cheap, and useful... the trifecta of DIY goodness. It may actually cross over to superfecta status, which also includes being attractive. This isn't the most beautiful thing I've made, but it at least qualifies as non-ugly. That's a win in my book.
The only supplies you will need is a 1x2 (which is a dollar for raw and about $3.50 for pre-primed) and a yardstick (which is like 64 cents at Home Depot). So pretty much no …

Industrial Bathroom Hardware
It's been awhile since we've visited my master bathroom. It's pretty much complete besides a few finishing touches that I've been putting off. Well, some finishing touches AND the linen closet, which is still pink from when we bought our house. But that is for another post, today we are talking industrial bathroom hardware.
Believe it or not, we have never had toilet paper holders in either one of our bathrooms. The toilet paper just sits on random surfaces nearby the toilet, sometimes …

Simple Industrial Pipe Shelving, Bathroom Edition
I finally have a new project to show you! So remember that master bathroom remodel that Adam and I have slowly been working on? Well, we checked another project off the list. Meet my new shelves...
I love the way they turned out...they add a ton of personality to the bathroom. I like that they feel light (since it's glass) but are also cluttered with stuff. That sounds kinda weird to say, but the rest of the bathroom is a little sparse so I wanted a "stuff filled" area.
They're actually …

How to Refinish Outdated Tile (yes, I painted my shower)
Who here has outdated tile in their bathroom but doesn't want to rip it out and replace it? Did you know that you can paint it? Painting shower tile is an involved process but not a hard one, and for about $100 you can give your shower a complete makeover.
I wavered about doing something with the tile in our master bathroom for a long time. It's not terrible and I don't hate it...but by the same token I don't love it either. I didn't want to rip it out and re-tile...in our forever house, yes, …

The Easiest Way to Tile a Backsplash
I have a sneaking suspicion that many of you have a tiling project you want to take on but don't, because you're unsure of yourself. I don't blame you, there are a lot of steps...planning it out, mixing the thinset (mortar), applying the thinset, applying the tile, waiting for it to dry, grouting, sealing....
I have good news for you. You can tile a small area, like a backsplash, in a few hours WITHOUT wanting to rip your hair out or feeling completely lost.
Here is the secret....

Bathroom Remodel: Hanging the Mirror & Light
Hey everyone! I just got back from spending some time in Atlanta at Haven, a blog conference for DIY bloggers. It was awesome... I met so many amazing people, learned a ton, and got to spend a few days away from my kids for the first time ever. Other people cooked my food and cleaned up my messes....I loved it. Now I'm home and cleaning up my own messes...but I think my kids got cuter while I was gone, so it's okay.
Before I left I had promised a post about the mirror and light in the …

Birthing a Stenciled Bathroom
I'm back with a bathroom update! I didn't forget about it, I've been sloooooowly working on it this whole time. Last time I updated y'all on the bathroom it was APRIL (holy cow) and I showed you the finished dresser turned vanity. Well, here is what it looks like today!
Yup, I stenciled it. We obviously did other stuff too, but this post is about the stenciling. It took f-o-r-e-v-e-r-, but it looks awesome.
So lets dive right into the details...
First I painted the bathroom white from …

How to turn a Dresser into a Bathroom Vanity
Dressers are super versatile, you can transform them into a host of things. I've seen them made into media centers, changing tables, buffets, benches, bookshelves, toy storage, and last but not least, bathroom vanities. When we decided to start renovating our bathroom last month I knew I wanted a dresser as my new vanity. I liked the idea of the vanity looking like a piece of furniture and I wanted the storage.
I've written a few posts about the process so far, but this post has all the …

The Wood Flooring Countertop, Part II
Alright everyone, this is part two of my bathroom countertop adventure. (If you haven't read the first part you can do that HERE.) When I left y'all we had successfully made a counter out of maple wood flooring, which happens to be particularly hard to stain. Here was my first attempt...
It looked terrible and Adam vetoed it right away. And that's saying something because he never vetoes things, he usually just lets me gush about weird new ideas that my brain comes up with and then tries his …

Bathroom Remodel – Installing a Faucet and Sink
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Moen, Incorporated for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine. The bathroom remodel continues, this time we are replacing our old sink and faucet. I'm really excited about his part, you'll see why...
So here is the previous vanity. It's bottom of the line apartment chic, not to mention too small for the space.
There was a few problems with our current faucet/sink. First, it was disgusting (I say was because it's currently sitting on our …

Well, it's our new bathroom vanity! (or at least we're working on it.)
Here is a before picture, just for reference.
There was one problem with the dresser/vanity swicharoo....the top of the dresser wasn't deep enough for the sink I bought. It …

Adding Length to a Shower Curtain
It all started when I feel in love with the
Mosaic Shower Curtain from World Market. I already had a perfectly good shower curtain from Target, but it was kiddie themed..and as much as I try I just don't like kid stuff. So I ditched it. This one is beautiful (although it - and the entire bathroom - photograph terribly) but it has the same problem that 99% of shower curtains have. It is too dang short. It's like my bathtub is wearing high waters.
If I hang it to where it covers everything …

Lazy Girl Tiling
Who here has ever tiled before? I have helped people tile, have watched people tile, but until we started working on our bathroom I had never actually tiled before. Nope, never. So if you have something you want to tile and are a bit unsure of yourself, trust me when I tell you...it's not that hard. Granted, I started off with a really easy tiling project, but I feel pretty confident that I could tile a kitchen backsplash or something without any problem.
Now let me tell you some shortcuts :) …
